Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a postpartum doula?
A postpartum doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and practical support for families after birth. Think of us as your gentle guide and extra set of hands during those tender early weeks.

2. How is a doula different from a nurse or midwife?
Unlike medical providers, doulas don’t perform clinical tasks. Instead, we focus on the whole family’s well-being—helping with newborn care, feeding, rest, healing, and the emotional transition into parenthood.

3. What kind of support do you provide?
Every family is unique! Support may include infant care guidance, breastfeeding or bottle-feeding help, meal prep, light household tasks, emotional check-ins, sibling support, or simply holding space so you can rest and recover.

4. Do you offer overnight support?
Yes. Overnight care allows parents to get the rest they need while knowing their baby is nurtured, safe, and cared for during the night.

5. How long do families typically work with a postpartum doula?
Some families only need a few visits, while others choose support for several weeks or months. We’ll work together to find a plan that fits your needs best.

6. What is placenta encapsulation and why do families choose it?
Placenta encapsulation is the practice of preparing the placenta into capsules for consumption. Many families choose it to support energy, mood, and recovery after birth.

7. Do you support all feeding choices?
Absolutely. Whether you’re breastfeeding, pumping, bottle-feeding, or combo feeding, I’ll walk alongside you with encouragement, resources, and zero judgment.

8. Can I book you before my baby is born?
Yes! In fact, I recommend it. Booking during pregnancy ensures your support is reserved, and we’ll also have time to prepare together before your little one arrives.

9. Do you only support first-time parents?
Not at all! I support families of all sizes. Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, each postpartum journey is unique and deserves care.

10. Do you take on clients in surrounding cities?
Yes, I support families in Raleigh and the surrounding areas, including Durham, Cary, Apex, Garner, Wake Forest, Knightdale, Clayton, etc..
